I personally would up having to travel to a different state and back to pick up my pup.Free chihuahuasChihuahuas are bold, high energy dogs that make wonderful companions for their owners but are suspicious of strangers. Many breeders also have a waitlist these days due to everyone getting dogs through COVID times. Just be wary of scams, and ask around to figure out which breeders are the more reputable ones before buying. so finding a FB group or something similar may be a good avenue for you too. I lurked on there for about 6 months before I felt I knew enough to pursue a breeder with good reviews. I found a moderated Facebook group that matched known registered breeders with those looking to buy, and you could ask any general questions you had about the breed as well in the group so you can crowdsource good answers/info. I paid $1800 for her, but in my research I saw prices from $1500-2500. I just got a purebred Scottie dog through an AKC breeder. $2k is actually a pretty normal price for a purebred dog these days, and a good breeder will also vet YOU as much as you vet them to ensure you are a good fit to adopt a puppy to.

While you may not want to show your dog, AKC registered breeders are the best way to get a purebred where you know they are not coming from a puppy mill or backyard breeder with terrible inbreeding histories or unknown health problems. Registered AKC breeders or official Clubs of America are the only legit ones that tend to be in it for the right reasons (preserving the integrity of the breed) and will have the proper paperwork for you to see their bloodline histories and full vetting for breed-specific diseases.
